"Draculaura...?"
Draculaura turned to see her beast friend, Clawdeen, approaching her after what had seemed like forever (and after 1600 years of unlife, Draculaura knew what forever felt like), even though it had really only been about a day.
"Look..." The werewolf started, yellow eyes darting to the floor sadly, fingers playing with the elaborate fur sleeves of the costume she was wearing for the Halloween party. "I'm sorry for shutting you out."
Draculaura smiled, waving her hand, always quick to forgive and forget (especially for Clawdeen). "Oh, it's okay. I'm sorry for pushing too hard! Speed-dating was the worst idea EVER!" She waved her hands about to emphasize her statement, her thick, Transylvanian accent coming out even stronger than usual as she did so. She peered up at Clawdeen through dark lashes, her eyes sweet and hopeful. "...Forgivesies...?"
Clawdeen couldn't help but grin. As fangry as she'd been with Draculaura over the whole speed-dating fiasco, she knew she couldn't stay mad at her for long- she never could! Draculaura had a way of melting her heart, and, even when they did fight (which wasn't often, anyway), she always made it seem like nothing had ever even been wrong once they made up! So they were right back to where they started- beast friends all over again. "Yep." She nodded, holding out her arms. "Hug it out!"
Draculaura happily snuggled into Clawdeen's embrace, humming contentedly and smiling brightly. It felt so good to have Clawdeen back again! She always hated it when other monsters were upset or fangry with her...especially Clawdeen! But she had realised what she'd done- trying to get Clawdeen to date someone, even if the idea of speed-dating had seemed fun and innocent enough to her, only ended up hurting Clawdeen and pushing her away. She was so happy that Clawdeen had forgiven her for it! But, there was still one thing she didn't quite understand. "But...I don't get it." She started as they pulled out of their embrace. "Why couldn't you talk to me about it?"
Clawdeen sighed softly, turning away. "Because..." She started lamely, a bit shy. "I was embarrassed. Afraid! Pretty weak, huh...?" Her gaze dropped to the floor again.
Draculaura tutted softly. "Ohh, no!" She gently turned Clawdeen so that she was facing her again. "Clawdeen, dating is hard, under the best of circumstances! But being afraid to do something, just because you've never done it, is no reason not to do it."
Clawdeen bit her lip, sharp fangs glinting slightly. "You're right...but...that wasn't all." She murmured, yellow eyes flicking back up to Draculaura's face.
Draculaura tilted her head, her pinkish-purple eyes widening. "What else?" She reached out and took Clawdeen's hand gently. "Clawdeen, you know you can tell me anything."
Clawdeen sighed again, her soft ears flattening a bit against her hair out of nervousness. "I just..." She bit her lip again, searching for the right words. "I wasn't only afraid of trying to find someone to date. I was afraid and nervous and embarrassed because...I wanted the someone that I went out with...to be you."
The smaller ghoul blinked, raising her eyebrows. "You...me?" She pointed to herself. "You wanted...want to go out with me?" If Clawdeen hadn't had fur, Draculaura could tell that her face would be all flushed with shy embarrassment as she watched her nod slowly. "Why didn't you just say so?"
Clawdeen blinked at her. "Uh, hello? You don't just go up to your beast ghoulfriend in the whole wide world and just say, 'Hey, ghoul, I really like you, and I think we should date.'" She blinked down at the floor, ears flattening sadly. "I didn't want to make our relationship weird. I didn't want to lose you. But now you probably think I'm batty, and everything is ruined..." She turned to leave, but Draculaura reached out and caught her wrist before she could.
"Clawdeen." Draculaura said, her voice strong, but kind.
Clawdeen didn't turn, but she stayed put, her wrist still in Draculaura's hand.
"...Hey, ghoul. I really like you. And I think we should date."
Clawdeen sighed, turning around. "Draculaura, you don't have to--"
She was cut off by a pair of soft, sweet lips begin pressed against her own. She blinked as Draculaura pulled away and smiled up at her.
"Don't have to what, Clawdeen? I'm telling you the truth." The vampiress said, taking Clawdeen's hand gently and entwining their fingers. "I want to go out with you."
Clawdeen blinked again, a smile starting to creep it's way onto her face. "F...for real? You're not just yanking my fangs, are you?"
Draculaura shook her head, smiling up at Clawdeen happily. "Of course not, Clawdeen. I want to be your ghoulfriend. And not just your friend that's a ghoul, either." She giggled, moving closer to Clawdeen. "So...what do you say?" She blinked up at Clawdeen sweetly again, with that look that she could steal hearts with. "Will you go out with me?"
Clawdeen nodded, grinning widely. "Happily."
Draculaura giggled. "Then, come on! Let's dance!!" The two made their way to the dance floor, where they danced and talked all night, so eager and happy to each have their beast friends back, and to start a whole new part of their lives together.
